Contatto EM – Electromagnetic Contact
2017 · Spazio Curva Pura, Rome
With Gulia Liusikova
In Contatto EM – Electromagnetic Contact K. Lious and her mother, Gulia Liusikova, gave their own visionary reading of a ‘theory of everything’, touching on quantum mechanics, general relativity and string theory. They imagined an electromagnetic contact between the elements that make up the known universe.
The works start from the graphic representation of Maxwell’s equations, which unify electric, magnetic and optical phenomena. One wall of the gallery stood for matter, with works on paper, the other for antimatter, with works on zinc. At their meeting point a flaming heart, carnal and alive, stood for the human soul.
In a separate room a modular installation took up string theory and sound through Lissajous figures, curves traced by parametric equations that can be read as the graphic form of musical harmony. An audio-video performance by Valerio Monopoli set the electromagnetic waves of light alongside sound waves.
